About CALF
CALF is an integrated dairy-based sustainable agriculture model located at P.L. Puram, Payakaraopeta Mandal, Anakapalli District, Andhra Pradesh.
It was developed as a practical demonstration centre where dairy farming is connected with biogas, renewable energy, organic manure, green fodder, Azolla, organic cultivation and milk processing.
The model helps farmers, students and visitors understand how agricultural by-products can be converted into useful resources, creating a system that is productive, educational and environmentally responsible.
Learn More About CALFWhat Makes CALF Unique?
CALF is not just a dairy farm. It is a complete dairy-based resource recycling and farmer learning model.
π
Dairy Foundation
Scientific dairy farming forms the base of the entire integrated system.
β»
Waste to Wealth
Dung and slurry are converted into energy, manure and farm inputs.
β‘
Renewable Energy
Biogas supports cooking and power generation within the farm ecosystem.
π¨βπΎ
Farmer Learning
CALF serves as a practical exposure centre for farmers and students.
The Visionary Behind CALF
Shri Ch. V.K. Narasimha Rao
Shri Ch. V.K. Narasimha Rao, a mechanical engineer, entrepreneur, institution builder and progressive dairy farmer, envisioned dairy farming as more than milk production.
His belief in self reliance, scientific management and responsible use of resources led to the development of CALF as a practical model of integrated dairy farming, renewable energy, organic agriculture and farmer education.
His lifeβs work demonstrates how agriculture can become productive, sustainable, educational and socially beneficial.

Every component of CALF is connected to another component, creating a complete circular farming system.
π
Dairy Farm
The dairy farm produces milk and organic dung, forming the foundation of the entire system.
β»
Biogas Unit
Cattle dung is converted into biogas, supporting cooking, power generation and cleaner farm energy.
π±
Organic Inputs
Digested slurry and organic waste are converted into manure, vermicompost and natural farm inputs.
πΏ
Fodder & Azolla
Organic inputs support fodder and Azolla cultivation, strengthening animal nutrition.
π₯
Milk Processing
Milk processing adds value and connects farm production with consumer products.
π¨βπΎ
Farmer Learning
The entire farm serves as a live demonstration centre for farmers, students and visitors.
From Waste to Wealth
CALF follows the principle that every resource in agriculture has value. Dung from dairy animals is not treated as waste. It becomes a source of biogas, energy, slurry, organic manure and soil nutrition.
This creates a continuous cycle where dairy farming supports energy, energy supports the farm, manure supports fodder and fodder again supports the dairy animals.
This closed-loop approach makes CALF a strong example of practical sustainability and rural resource management.
Understand the CycleCALF Circular Model
- Dairy animals produce milk and dung
- Dung is converted into biogas
- Biogas supports cooking and power generation
- Slurry becomes organic manure
- Manure supports fodder and organic farming
- Fodder improves animal nutrition
- Milk is processed into value-added products
